After her adoptive parents discovered her mutant powers, her adoptive father, despite her mother's protests, contacted a mutant control agency. When Jubilation Lee overheard their discussion about reporting her, she questioned why she was becoming a mutant and recalled the time when she was "normal," showing that her mutation was not something she had chosen herself. Wounded, she fled to an arcade at a shopping mall, where a Sentinel robot arrived to capture her.
