For centuries he toiled. A vast, scaly weight pressing down on the stolen riches of Erebor™, breathing the stagnant air of a kingdom's tomb. In the darkness, the dragon and his hoard became one. No longer merely a guardian of gold, Smaug became the very embodiment of avarice, his scales mirroring the shimmering coins he coveted above all else. Smaug the Golden presents a striking 'what if' narrative, where he merges with the treasure he guards. To achieve this lustrous, treasure-encrusted aesthetic, our artists employed a specialized metal-foil technique. This complex application covers scales and hide in a glistening sheen of gold, mimicking the effect of eons spent pressing Dwarven riches beneath his might. Yet, amidst this metallic armour, the eyes and maw remain terrifyingly organic; a visceral reminder that a living, breathing monster still lurks beneath the golden shell. Limited to an edition of only 900, this piece retains the intricate texture of the original sculpt while offering an entirely new aesthetic.
