Staying true to the uncompromising standard of accuracy and artistic integrity, lead sculptor Tanaka Kenichi has poured his heart and soul into capturing the spirit of the 1998 incarnation just as you remember it from the silver screen. Every anatomical contour, every muscular tension, every subtle texture of the skin has been meticulously studied and sculpted to reflect the creature’s distinctive design.
In honor of authenticity, Spiral Studio received invaluable support from the great Gino Acevedo, Creature Paint Designer and Supervisor for Godzilla 1998, who personally oversaw the painting process to ensure that the coloration and surface treatment matched the original model used during the film's production. The result is not an interpretation – it is preservation, from the vivid pearlescent blue hue on each scale, multiple layers of contrasting colors on the jagged dorsal fins, to the lizard-like moist skin.
To further enhance realism to its absolute peak, Spiral Studio has implemented hemispherical glass eyes – crafted with the same method used on the original animatronic model. This subtle yet crucial detail brings the sculpture to life, creating depth, moisture, and a natural refraction that cannot be replicated by ordinary materials. It is one of the defining elements that elevates this figure beyond a collectible and into true museum art.
Captured in its iconic running pose, this Godzilla personifies the electrifying taxi chase sequence through the rain-soaked streets of Manhattan. There is movement in the stillness – a sense of urgency, weight, and cinematic scale rarely achieved in collectible form.
