When I draw character illustrations, my primary focus is to capture the essence of line drawing, translating objects and spaces into a two-dimensional plane. I feel that ukiyo-e represents both the origin of this method and one of its perfected forms. I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to showcase collaborations alongside great masterpieces and cultural traditions that have profoundly influenced me. Hokusai's paintings feature iconic expressions that define each work—whether it's the waves in The Great Wave off Kanagawa or the cherry trees in Fuji Seen from Goten-yama at Shinagawa, on the Tokaido. These elements blend exceptionally well with Hatsune Miku, who can take on countless forms when combined with various concepts. I enjoyed creating this piece and hope it serves as a gateway for viewers to explore the worlds of both Hokusai and Miku.
