When drawing character illustrations, my primary focus is to capture the essence of line art and translate objects and spaces into a two-dimensional surface. I feel that ukiyo-e represents both the origin of this approach and one of its refined forms. I am deeply honored to have been given the opportunity to display collaborative works alongside the great masterpieces and cultural traditions that have strongly influenced me. Hokusai's paintings bear iconic expressions that define each work â whether it's the waves in The Great Wave off Kanagawa or the cherry blossoms in Fuji Seen from Goten-yama at Shinagawa, on the Tokaido. These elements blend particularly well with Hatsune Miku, who can assume endless forms when combined with various concepts. I truly enjoyed creating this piece and hope it serves as a gateway for viewers to explore both the worlds of Hokusai and Miku.
